The French Canadian Bourgeoisie

Since the 19th century, the French Canadian bourgeoisie had been little involved in industrial capitalism. Educated in classic colleges, they traditionally gravitated towards professional occupations in medicine, notarial practice, law, or the priesthood. Although some French Canadians did become manufacturers, on the whole, they had little capital and were unable to rival the Anglo-Saxon business class.
