1.1.4 Construction Materials

Rocky materials used in construction. They require little or no processing.

This category includes limestone (cement, dimension stone), sand and gravel (fill material, concrete), clay (brick), granite, marble, slate and schist (dimension stone).

Some construction materials such as limestone and clay also have numerous industrial applications. For example, limestone from which lime is extracted is used in papermaking and in reducing air and water pollution.

		Limestone is mined in many quarries in Québec.
