1.2.3.2 The St. Lawrence Platform
The St. Lawrence Platform is made up of the St. Lawrence Lowlands, which extend from Gatineau through Lac-St-Jean and the Lowlands of Anticosti Island to Charlevoix.

The relatively undeformed rocks of the St. Lawrence Platform are 100 to 500 million years old. They are mostly sedimentary (limestone, dolomite, sandstone, conglomerate), but some are also igneous (syenite, carbonatite).
The mineral resources found in the Platform consist chiefly of industrial minerals such as silica and construction materials such as limestone, clay, sand and gravel.
