The Pavillon Jean-Olivier-Briand was known as the Grand Séminaire
de Québec from 1882 until 1959, when it was became the
priests’ residence. It was built between 1879 and 1882 according
to plans by Joseph-Ferdinand Peachy, who also designed the immense
central staircase of iron and stone. It was built in England and
installed by Carrier’s of Lévis.
