In 1668, the Seminary acquired the Beaupré seigneury, the largest of all its properties. It stretched from the Montmorency River to the Rivière du Gouffre (near La Malbaie) and included île aux Coudres. Except for the Maizerets estate, all the Seminary's farms lay within this seigneury. Their role was to keep the Seminary stocked in flour, dairy products, farm-raised meat, fruit, vegetables, firewood and coal.
