A Museum, a story
Your guide will reveal archaeological artefacts and historical structures that are now part of the Museum's modern building. Located a few steps from the birthplace of New France, the Museum shows traces of its maritime, commercial and architectural history. The guide will also explain the Museum's mission and point of view in highlighting its collections.
Two major exhibitions
The guide will present the main storylines for the Museum's two reference exhibitions.
People of Québec… then and now brings you to the heart of Québec's history and rich cultural heritage. With more than 375 objects and archival documents, as well as film montages, this exhibition provides a framework for understanding today's Québec. In This is Our Story, 100 000 people from the First Nations and Inuit re-examine their past, share their present and dream their future with visitors. Born from a close collaboration with the eleven Aboriginal Nations that live in Québec, this exhibition retraces their migration to this continent, their meeting with Europeans, and the clash of colonialism, all to better understand the current state of affairs and the deepest hopes and fears of these peoples.
The tour ends with a brief introduction to the current temporary exhibitions.
