Zeus, Aphrodite, Poseidon, Dionysus... the stories and exploits of these mythical gods are deeply rooted in Western civilization. The lyrical and epic poems of Ancient Greece, such as Homer's Iliad and Odyssey, have sparked the imagination of our societies and still find echo the in the art, literature, and poetry of today.

In seven chapters, the magazine showcases and provides background for the 160 objects and artworks from the Berlin State Museums' Classical Antiquity collection. Magnificent works of marble, bronze, and ceramic reveal the 12 gods of Olympus as imagined and depicted by the artists of Ancient Greece and Rome. This journey into the heart of mythology also looks at the sanctuaries dedicated to these "Masters of Olympus," and offers a glimpse of the rituals practiced to worship them. An unforgettable voyage back to the very foundation of Western civilization!

The magazine features essays by Pierre Bonnechere (professor of history at Université de Montréal's center for Classical studies), Françoise Frontisi-Ducroux‚ (Hellenist‚ honorary assistant director, Collège de France), Pierre Brulé (professor emeritus of Greek history, Université Rennes 2), Jean-Jacques Breton (art historian), Andreas Scholl (director of Antikensammlung and marble conservator), Martin Maischberger (assistant director of Antikensammlung and bronze and earthenware conservator), and Laurence Peydro (Beaux-Arts magazine).
