This is artist Karine Giboulo's first showing in Québec City. The native of Sainte-Émilie-de-l'Énergie questions how our society functions through her paintings, works on paper, and sculptures.
In this exhibition, Karine Giboulo explores the unbridled growth of shantytowns, a direct consequence of urbanization and economic globalization. Her work pays tribute to the residents of Village Démocratie, a slum on the outskirts of Port-au-Prince. They welcomed the artist into their lives, sharing with her aspects of their day-to-day existence.
