At the frontier between installation and artwork, the exhibition Rebel Bodies aims to demystify contemporary dance. Visitors will discover the language of the body in movement and its inspirations. The experience is enriched by meetings with choreographers and there is even a unique immersive dance workshop created by the celebrated Moment Factory.
The exhibition goes on tour.
It will be presented at Musée des Confluences from September 13 , 2016 to March 5, 2017. In Lyon, Rebel Bodies proposes, through a new museum device, to observe the connections between events in the 20th century and changes or disruptions in the history of contemporary dance.
Rebel Bodies is a true invitation to discover contemporary dance as a universal language, to explore the codes, inspirations, and its potential to unify cultures. The exhibition presents universal content with both a Québec and international flavor, and uses an immersive museographical approach – in interaction with the public, choreographers and dancers in residence.
Rebel Bodies is divided into six themes to help the public understand how dance (movement) embodies the individual's relationship to the environment and society:
Dance - a mirror of life, where the body becomes democracy, understanding and empathy.
Alcoa is a partner in all Musée de la civilisation's exhibition programming.
