Brew. Of Taverns and Men

Trois des personnages principaux de la pièces Broue en gris sur fond jaune.

With more than 3,300 performances for over 3 million audience members, Brew is one of Québec’s greatest cultural phenomena. Inspired by the simple and all-male bar-going experience, the comedy explores the familiarity, candour and woes of these men and their era.

The exhibition goes behind the scenes of this cult play, exploring its sets, props and costumes. Through a number of videos, the actors and the team behind the production share their thoughts and reflections.

Beyond the story itself, the exhibition also looks at the history of taverns in Québec. It includes photos by documentary filmmaker Alain Chagnon, who met with several tavern regulars. Visitors get a glimpse of what these men-only social spaces were really like.

The virtual tour is produced in collaboration with Gaspésie Virtuelle.
