Whether they're made for movie theatres or television, today's major productions all rely on special effects (FXs) to bring to life ever more astonishing esthetic creations. Nonetheless, we know very little about these "mysterious" effects. As you browse through the exhibit, you will be able to experiment with different processes, all the while learning about the main stages of moviemaking as well as the different trades involved.

Spotlight on a craft that usually prefers to stay away from the red carpets!
How are FXs imagined, worked into the script, and finally brought to life? Which trades and skills are at play here? All questions which Special Effects answers by showcasing every stage of moviemaking, from preproduction to postproduction, through an array of carefully selected movie clips. Using a set of immersive and interactive processes, the exhibit allows the visitor to experiment the major stages of conception and making of a film or television production, from writing and film design to actual production. It also demystifies the secrets behind special effects. Using professional tools to become an actor, an FX supervisor or a graphic artist, visitors can direct, shoot, add effects and create their very own movie trailer!
