MAYA

Signature visuelle de l'exposition MAYA représentée par une sculpture devant des hiéroglyphes sur fond rose.

Maya invites you to explore 5,000 years of this fascinating civilization. At its peak, between the years 200 and 700, it was one of the most advanced cultures in terms of social organization, science, astronomy, mathematics, agriculture and medicine.

The exhibition reveals the mystery, heritage and resilience of the Maya of Central America, one of the world’s most fascinating civilizations. With their reverence for nature and advanced social organization, they dominated the region for centuries.

Maya showcases the millennia-old treasures of the National Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology of Guatemala, most of which had never left their country of origin before this exhibition.

Unlike the Aztecs and Incas, the Maya culture survived the colonial era and is still alive today— an exceptional history celebrated in the exhibition.

This exhibition was designed by MuseumsPartner, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Guatemala.
