Marking the 40th anniversary of hip-hop culture in Quebec, this exhibition traces the history, presents the leaders and explores how the movement's struggles have influenced Quebec society over time.

The call for archives and objets is now closed.

Hip-hop emerged in Quebec in the late 1970s. Long considered a marginal culture, it now occupies a place of importance in Quebec society.

Both then and now, hip-hop culture symbolizes a rich cultural diversity. It resonates with social issues and leads to major cultural changes. Its emergence illustrates how far we have come in recognizing and making all Quebec voices heard, and also how far we still have to go.

An exhibition developed in collaboration with hip-hop artist and lecturer Webster.
